How does supplementing zinc effect muscles?
I’m trying to figure out if zinc and magnesium helps relax muscles or what so you can sleep better. Someoen said the combination of the two helps but how?
If you’re physically active then supplementing Zinc and Magnesium is effective. These minerals are electrolytes, which help replenish your muscles when you’ve worked out. I don’t know about Zinc, but I supplement Magnesium for various reasons and it helps me even when I’m not working out; I asked my doctor about it and he said it’s effective in helping relax muscles. I don’t see why Zinc wouldn’t do the same though.

Can the zinc in dandruff shampoos absorb into my skin, causing the symptoms of zinc poisoning?
All of a sudden, almost 2 years ago, I started having weird sensations in my hands and feet. Sort of like they were "almost" to the point of numb, but not really. The tops of my toes and feet would feel weird, too sometimes.
Also, my arms were shaky and weak, and I felt like my legs were, too. I was walking normally, but it didn’t feel like it to me.
It went on for a LONG time. Months and months. My doctor kept telling me it was all anxiety.
But this was really strange, and pretty sudden.
I really thought I had MS. I was sure of it.
I know, at that time, I had started using dandruff shampoos, cause my dandruff was out of control.
I stopped using them last spring, and I’ve been feeling better for the most part. (sometimes I get a "replapse" as I call it, for a few days.)
So, I just recently started using the dandruff shampoo again, because WHAT am I supposed to do about dandruff, if I don’t use dandruff shampoo???
And within two weeks, I started getting that shakiness feeling in my arms again.
I recently read about the denture creams having zinc, and poisoning people, giving them MS symptoms, etc….
Well, doesn’t that apply to dandruff shampoos also??
You must have a very strong sensitivity to zinc or a very absorbent scalp. Your symptoms certainly seem related to the shampoo, though, so be insistent with a doctor. Because of the rarity of the situation they may be very willing to blow that theory off. The reason zinc-containing denture creams would have a poisoning effect is because the cream is ingested due to it being in the mouth, so it wouldn’t be expected to affect you through the scalp. Discontinue using the dandruff shampoo and seek out a zinc alternative to maintain the problem. Best of luck to you!!
